Visitors to First United Methodist Church as well as many of our long time members find answers to some of life’s most pressing questions through our “Discipleship Process”. In order to orient new members to our congregation, we use a 13-week process including an introductory gathering, the Alpha Course, and “Inside FUMC”. Some of the questions we address together are:
|
-
Who Is Jesus?
-
Why Did He Die?
-
Who is the Holy Spirit?
-
Does God Heal Today?
-
What About the Church?
|
The Alpha Course helps us answer those questions through video sessions and small group discussion. |
What is Alpha? |
The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It's relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun.
Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. |
What is Alpha For? |
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith and anyone interested in rehearsing the essentials of our faith in order to renew their commitment and enrich their walk with Jesus.
Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and to have fun at the same time!
People meeting together. It is an opportunity to get to know others and to make new friends.
Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the presentations.
Ask anything. Alpha is a place where questions about the Christian faith can be raised and answered. No question is out of order! |
When is Alpha? |
Three Alpha classes are held each year. |
What is Inside FUMC?
|
Once you have finished our Alpha Course, the pastoral staff provides an evening of orientation about who we are at First United Methodist Church. You’ll learn about United Methodism, what it means to be a member of First Church, and how you can find your way into the life of our community of faith where you can grow and serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
Throughout the Discipleship Process, you will have the opportunity to get to know other members of the congregation and join us in membership if you desire to make that commitment at the end of the course.
For more information about membership, the Alpha Course and Discipleship Process, please email or call Rev. Beth McLaughlin at 673-3641 ext 119. |
