United Methodist Women will have their next Unit Meeting on Tuesday, October 7 in Wesley Hall. The schedule is as follows:
9:30 a.m. Fellowship Time
10:00 a.m. Business Meeting
10:30 a.m. Program: “Made in the Image of God”
Israel and Palestine:
Past and Present
11:45 a.m. Lunch
The Reverend Howard Daughenbaugh will present the program on Israel and Palestine. As we are all aware, the hostilities between these two peoples often make it seem that peace between them is hopeless, but Christians in the U.S. are called to cross the dividing lines to support the efforts for peace in this region. We hope you will want to come and learn more about this land, the cradle of our faith. Please join us by making a reservation with Wilma Dooley (699-2821) or Rae Thorson (693-7356) by Friday, October 3.

The devotional books for the adult Sunday school study on The Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations will be in the classrooms for pick up on Sunday, September 28. This 5-Sunday Study will begin October 12 and continue through November 9. All adults are encouraged and welcome to participate in this study. Those not presently in a Sunday school class are welcome to join an existing class or to participate in a Five Practices short-term class in B-3. If you are interested in this short-term class, devotional books will be available for pick-up for the short-term class only in the church office. Please sign up for the class when you pick up a book so we can anticipate how many will be attending.
The Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations is an engaging study about the five basic practices that are critical to the success of congregations. The presence and strength of the five practices are directly related to a congregation’s vitality, health and fruitfulness in fulfilling their mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. If you have any questions, please contact Cheryl Hendrix (673-3641, ext. 151).

Equipping Short-term Mission Leaders Training-Oct 17 & 18
more »
« less
Are you ready for a lifetime of adventure?
For those who are willing to obey God’s call to “go into all the world,” life is never boring. If you are interested in leading short-term mission teams, the Equipping Short-Term Mission Leaders workshop will provide you with the necessary training to effectively lead a life-changing short-term mission experience.
Most short-term mission trip leaders do not receive the training they need to fully prepare them for leading a team. The further a team goes, culturally or geographically, and as the size, scope, and duration of the project increase, the more likely it is that leadership training must become an essential component for a team to be led with excellence so that it will accomplish its God intended purpose.
Equipping Short-term Mission Leadership Workshop
Dates: Friday, October 17 & Saturday, October 18
Times: Friday 6:00-8:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Meals: Friday a light dinner will be served; Saturday, refreshments and lunch
Cost: $30 includes a workbook and lunch on Saturday; donation requested for Friday’s dinner.
Contact persons: Sue Heytman (673-3641, 114)

A Giving Option

Did you know your contributions can be given automatically? FUMC offers a service that withdraws your gift from your account and deposits it in the Church’s account with no action on your part (other than recording the withdrawal in your check register!). Basically, you specify the account, frequency of withdrawal and amount. The service starts when you want it to, saving you time as well as saving your church’s time and the costs associated with contribution envelopes. There is no cost to you for the service. For more information, or to start the service, please contact Denise Gooaman (673-3641, ext. 123; dgoodman@fumcpeoria.org).
